At Behind the Updo, I’ve styled more than 1,000 weddings — and I’ve heard just about every question you can imagine from brides and their bridal parties. Whether you're wondering how to prep your hair or what happens during a preview, I’m here to make the entire process clear, calm, and confidence-boosting.

Booking & Availability

  • How far in advance should I book my wedding hair?

    I recommend booking 6–12 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season (spring through fall). I require a signed contract and deposit to secure your date.

  • Is there a minimum to book?

    Yes, during peak wedding season, I require a Bride + 4 minimum to book services.

  • What’s the deposit policy?

    Deposits are based on your selected services and are due at the time of booking. Your date isn’t reserved until the deposit is received and the contract is signed.

  • Do you offer previews?

    Yes — every package includes one preview session for the bride. This is your time to test out your wedding day look, ask questions, and make sure we get every detail perfect. Additional preview sessions are available as an add-on.

Day-of Wedding Details

  • Do you come to my getting-ready location?

    Absolutely — all of my services are on-location. I travel directly to wherever you’re getting ready to make your morning as seamless as possible.

  • How early will you arrive?

    I’ll create a personalized timeline based on your party size and schedule. Typically, I arrive early enough to keep everything running smoothly and stress-free.

  • What do I need to provide for setup?

    A well-lit area, access to an outlet, and a table or counter for my tools. I bring everything else needed to style your hair professionally.

  • Will you help with veil or accessory placement?

    Yes — every bridal package includes expert veil or hairpiece placement as part of your final style.

Hair Prep & Styling Tips

  • How should I prep my hair before the preview or wedding day?

    Please arrive with clean, completely dry hair. If you plan to wear your natural curls, you can skip the blow-dry — otherwise, blowouts are highly recommended for a smooth base. Avoid using heavy oils or deep conditioners the night before.

  • Do you work with hair extensions?

    Yes, I specialize in styling with clip-in hair extensions. If you'd like to use extensions for added volume or length, let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly. Extension application is available as an add-on.

  • How long will my hairstyle last?

    I use professional-grade products and techniques designed to hold through wind, weather, dancing, and hours of celebration. Your style will last from “I do” to the final dance.

Services & Customization

  • Can I mix and match services or upgrade my package?

    Yes — all packages can be customized. You can add extra previews, bridal party members, or services like groom styling and flower girl hair. Let’s build a package that fits your exact needs.

  • What styles do you specialize in?

    I’m experienced in all modern bridal styles, including:

  • Will you stay for touch-ups?

    If you would like me to stay for touch-ups after the first look, an additional fee will apply.

Travel & Location

  • Do you charge a travel fee?

    Yes, travel fees apply based on the distance from Longmont, CO. I’ll include this in your initial quote based on your getting-ready address.

  • Do you travel outside Colorado?

    I’m open to destination weddings depending on the date, travel needs, and availability. Let’s chat if you’re planning something out of state or internationally.
